The Downtown Music Hall will host a Bounce House event on August 12th at 10pm at 212 Miracle Strip Parkway SE in Fort Walton Beach. DJ Chubby, $$$FreeMoney$$$ and Scoot Along will be part of a night of house vibes and grooves that will keep your feet moving and your heart pumping! You must be 18 to dance, 21 to drink it won’t work. No cover charge.

The Smash Bros. tournament will take place on August 12th from 6-9pm at The Sound Cafe + Enlightened Studios, 142 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach. Battle friends and strangers in epic events. The entry fee is $10 and the winner will receive the full amount.

Jenny B’s Garden will be hosting a multi-vendor plant sale on August 13th at 9am at 120 Patton Drive NE, Fort Walton Beach. Multiple vendors and growers sell indoor and outdoor plants suitable for local environments.

The Crestview Public Library hosts Coffee & Craft Classes on Saturdays from 9am to 11am at 1445 Commerce Drive in Crestview. Classes are free. All materials are provided. Social distancing will be practiced. We welcome donations. The next class is on August 13th.

Dustin Stewart and the Playground Amateur Radio Club host a weekly Sunday pileup for amateur radio enthusiasts. Free events offer free training, broadcast opportunities, technical skills, and more. Next time he will be on August 14th from 3pm to 5pm at 17 1st St SE, Fort Walton Beach.

Emerald Coast Science Center with SMALLLab’s next sciPad is at 31 Memorial Pkwy SW in Fort Walton Beach on August 17th from 1-3pm. The event is an embodied learning environment where all learners stand up, move and collaborate. You can work together to solve puzzles, compete in trivia games, learn about the world, play memory and matching games, and much more. Think of it like playing on an interactive, room-sized iPad for ages 2 to 102.

The Toast Wine Bar & Restaurant will host wine tastings in August featuring four great wines. Hours of operation are August 18, 5:30-7:30 pm, 4550 E. Highway 20 Suite D, Niceville. Tickets are $10 per person and reservations are recommended. For reservations, please call 850-279-6665.

Destin, Okaloosa Libraries Closed for Staff Training

The Destin Library will be closed all day on Friday, August 19th for annual staff training. Library staff cannot assist patrons by phone or email. All six Okaloosa County Public Libraries Joint Libraries are participating in the training and will be closed for the day. Patrons can update items or put items on hold from his website at readokaloosa.org. Normal library hours will resume on Saturday, August 20th. Sewing class

Ruthie’s Notions in Baker hosts Sewing Classes for Christmas Is August. Barbara Jones in the Make It and Take It Poinsettia class for Luminaire sewing machine users. GriefShare Grief Recovery Seminars and Support Groups

The GriefShare Recovery Seminar and Support Group will begin at 1:00 PM on September 1st at the Destin United Methodist Church at 200 Beach Drive. After that, the meeting continues every Thursday at 1:00 PM. Babysitting services are available on request.
